About

I started paying attention to pest control the way most people do: because I needed it. Somewhere between the first sighting and the panicked searching, I noticed how hard it was to find information that wasn't trying to scare me into a decision. Everything read like a sales pitch, and the parts that weren't were buried in forum posts or pest-identification sites with more ads than answers.

Windy City Exterminators is my attempt to fix that, at least a little. This site covers the basics that Chicago-area homeowners and renters actually need: what different pests mean for your home, roughly what to expect from treatment, how to think about choosing a provider, and when it's worth calling someone versus handling it yourself. I write about this from the perspective of a neighbor trying to save you some time, not an industry insider trying to sell you a contract.

I'm not an exterminator. I don't have a pest control license or a background in entomology, and I won't pretend otherwise. What I bring is a genuine interest in how people make decisions about home services, especially ones that involve some combination of urgency, discomfort, and not knowing who to trust. I try to write the kind of plain, level-headed explanations I would have wanted when I was dealing with my own pest problem.
