I write about pest control for Windy City Exterminators, mostly because I've always been curious about how people make decisions when they're stressed, a little grossed out, and not sure who to trust. Finding ants in the kitchen or hearing something scratch in the attic has a way of putting people in a hurry, and companies in this industry know it. Some lean into that. I'd rather not.

I live in the Chicago area, which is where most of my interest in this topic started. Between the seasonal bug swings, the older housing stock, and the sheer number of pest control outfits competing for attention here, it's been an unusually good place to pay attention to how this industry actually works and how homeowners actually choose.

I'm not an exterminator, and I don't hold any pest control licenses or certifications. What I bring is time spent reading, asking questions, and talking to people about what mattered when they hired someone, and what they wished they'd known first. My goal with every page is simple: help you understand your options before you call anyone, including us.
